Grammar Music Private Tuition Enrolment Terms and Conditions
Enrolment
To enrol your child please complete the Student Enrolment Form. You will need to complete a
separate enrolment form for
each child and each instrument. You may enrol your child in more than one instrument. However, students may only be enrolled in
one shared lesson.
Lesson Information
Lessons are held weekly for 30 minutes. All lessons are scheduled during the school day on a weekly rotating timetable to minimise the disruption to academic learning. Outside classroom lessons are
only available to Senior students, students learning more than one instrument and students with documented Learning Support needs. You will receive a link (via email) from your private music teacher for your term lesson times. The document will be a live document for you to watch over the term. Please note that there can be changes from time to time.
Fees
We offer both individual and shared instrumental tuition. As per the standard rates set by the QLD Music Teachers’ Association,
Individual tuition fees are
$42.50 per 30-minute lesson. Shared tuition fees are
$28.75 per 30-minute shared lesson, with a maximum of 2 students per shared lesson (only available if there are 2 students of the same playing ability).
Instrumental Music Specialists are responsible for issuing their own invoices and we appreciate you organising prompt payment of accounts to the tutor. Unfortunately, the Music Office is unable to assist with enquiries regarding your account and these may be directed to the individual specialist. Please note if your account is in arrears you cannot continue with the enrolment process.
Shared Lessons
Students will be paired in a shared lesson according to their playing level and experience. If a suitable partner is unavailable, students enrolled in a shared lesson will receive a 15-minute lesson ONLY until a suitable pairing becomes available. All shared lessons will be placed on a rotating timetable.
Withdrawals
All students enrolled at the start of the term must remain enrolled for the whole term.
If you wish to withdraw your child from lessons, the Music Office will require a minimum of
two weeks’ notice
(excluding school holiday periods) for administrative purposes.
To complete a formal withdrawal from the tuition program, you must also notify your private music specialist in writing ASAP and CC in: music@scgs.qld.edu.au
Please note: Term fees for the following or current term may still apply if you are outside of the two week notice period. Your specialist may be able to assist you if any extenuating circumstances arise (e.g. severe illness or financial hardship).
In order to change music specialists for lessons
on the same instrument, you will need to withdraw and complete a new enrolment via the Music Office, as you would with any other instrument.
Please note, fees are not transferrable between specialists.
Absences
Parents must notify the Music Specialist
one week prior to
any planned absence (e.g., excursions, incursions, sporting events, curriculum-based competitions, etc.).
All lessons that fall on a day with such an activity will be rescheduled
IF prior notice has been received from the family.
If Specialists
are not notified of these clashes one week prior, the lesson will be forfeited.
Parents must notify the Music Specialist via email before 8 am should a student fall ill.
Lessons missed due to illness will be eligible for
one make-up lesson per term ONLY. All other lessons will be forfeited.
Communication
All communication between parents, students, and music specialists
must be done via the music specialist's school email address. Specialists can speak to you when required via the school’s phone number (5445 4444). Specialists are not permitted to communicate with families via private phones.
Instruments & Instrument Hire
Students must either own or hire an instrument to support consistent home practice. Several reputable companies on the Sunshine Coast can assist with this. Please contact the Music Office for further information.
The Music department offers a variety of instruments for hire, including saxophones, violins, violas, cellos, flutes, trombones, clarinets, trumpets, and more. These instruments are available to all students in the Years 3 and 5 Immersion programs, as well as privately to students who enroll in private music lessons and/or those students who play in the school’s ensembles. If you would like to hire an instrument from our school, please email music@scgs.qld.edu.au for more information.
